The Lake Saimaa region is closer than you might expect. There are direct flights to Helsinki from almost everywhere in Europe. From Finland’s capital, it’s just a few hours’ drive to Mikkeli or about a three-hour journey by direct train. Additionally, there are direct flights from Rotterdam and Frankfurt to Savonlinna, making a holiday in Lake Saimaa region even more accessible.
