A 3-day guided self-paddling adventure in the Saimaa archipelago with overnight stays on private islands, combining wilderness camping, sauna and the chance to explore the habitat of the endangered Saimaa ringed seal.
Explore the Lake Saimaa archipelago on a 2-night, 3-day self-guided paddling journey designed for independent adventurers with some prior kayaking or canoeing experience. Travel through one of the world’s most unique freshwater archipelagos and paddle across waters that are home to the endangered Saimaa ringed seal.
Stay overnight in carefully selected natural comfort: your first night is spent camping on a private island in a high-quality glamping tent with a fireplace, followed by a second night in a small island cabin with a traditional sauna.
The route follows designated Saimaa Canoeing paddling trails, offering safe and well-organised infrastructure with optional guiding support on the first day. Before setting off, you’ll receive guidance on route navigation, safety and how to respectfully observe seal habitats in the wild.
This is a rare opportunity to experience Saimaa at its most authentic – slow-paced, remote and immersed in nature shaped by water, silence and island wilderness.
