Ice-floating winter experience

Experience the magic of an arctic winter on Lake Saimaa, on a private ice-floating adventure in the heart of Puumala. Happy Finn guide Arto leads small groups into the open waters of the Puumala strait, where the current keeps the water from freezing even on the coldest winter days. Wearing professional-grade safety suits, participants step safely into the icy water and float downstream with the current like a cork, surrounded by the frozen landscapes of Lake Saimaa. It is an exciting, fun and truly memorable way to experience Finnish winter.

The experience is available daily from October until the end of April, with departures at 10:00 and 14:00. Each tour lasts approximately 1.5–2 hours, depending on the size of the group. A private experience for groups of 3–12 people, making it ideal for families, groups of friends and other small groups looking for a special winter activity together.

The meeting and end point is Veeranranta in the centre of Puumala, Niementie 3, 52200 Puumala, Finland. A warm room is available for changing clothes before and after the experience.

The price is €55 per person and includes guide services, professional safety suits, a hot drink and use of the warm changing room. Participants should bring warm underwear and some spare clothing in case clothes get wet during the activity.

The experience is suitable for healthy participants aged 12–60 years. The minimum age is 12 years, and participants must be at least 140 cm tall to fit safely into the floating suit. A zero-tolerance policy for alcohol applies to all participants. Anyone with doubts about their suitability for the activity should contact the guide before booking.
