In Puumala, lively market culture is at the heart of the summer season. From June to August, the harbour market (Satamatori) comes alive every day, offering a vibrant atmosphere by the shores of Lake Saimaa.

Puumala features two market areas: the upper market & Puolukkatori (Keskustie 14) and the harbour market (Satamatie 2). Throughout the year, these markets host a variety of traditional events. The spring and autumn markets take place at Puolukkatori, while the Veera Market in June is held at the harbour. In July, the popular Jaakko Market – the busiest event of the year – spreads across the upper market, Keskustie, and the harbour, filling the whole village with energy.

During market days and beyond, you may also encounter local vendors, REKO local food distribution, and flea markets.

The harbour market is the true summer heart of Puumala. Here, you can meet locals and visitors alike while browsing a wide selection of fresh and local products, from fish delicacies, berries, and vegetables to handmade crafts and traditional baked goods. Relax by the water as you watch boats pass by and enjoy coffee, pancakes, ice cream, or refreshing summer drinks in a beautiful lakeside setting.

Both market areas are open daily during the summer season, typically from 6:30 am to 9:00 pm, making it easy to stop by and enjoy the atmosphere at any time of day.
