Hotel Punkaharju
Located in the Finnish national landscape on the shore of Puruvesi in Lake Saimaa, Hotel Punkaharju is a phenomenon to be experienced with all senses; it combines the owners’ love of forest and lakeside nature and of art and culture.
From a forester’s house to a high-quality accommodation and restaurant destination
The story of the historic hotel began in 1845, when the first part was built as a forester’s house by order of Tsar Nicholas I. At that time, three rooms were built for travellers. Over the years, the hotel has been expanded several times. Major changes have taken place also in the recent years, starting in 2016 when Saimi Hoyer bought the hotel and turned it into a high-quality accommodation and restaurant destination. The hotel has a magnificent scenic restaurant with a view of the beautiful Saimaa landscape, and 30 rooms with unique design.

The surrounding esker and lakeland nature with its produce creates a unique setting for the hotel. The restaurant of Hotel Punkaharju is an unforgettable experience; visitors are treated to a versatile plate of nature´s delicacies and products of the nearby producers. Mushroom dishes are the speciality of the hotel, and Saimi Hoyer is known as a passionate mushroom picker and an expert in the field.
